You're probably right. When I was 24 and under I had to connect via 28K modem, paid by the minute for my time online, used Windows 98 with PC-PINE and Internet Explorer 5 / Netscape 4... and there was hardly anyone I knew of my age online much, except maybe email at work.

Anji,

I don't shop at Leclerc, and haven't been to Carrefour for ages, but would have noticed if they had receipts like that. The receipt in question comes from Fontenay le Comte, not in the sticks as such but away from the Parisian region in any case.

Talking tills, what a silly idea!

Don,

Totally agree, all the little things really help especially as purchasing power is a stress in these days of hyper-consumerism and budget cuts.

You know, we who live in the sticks aren't all behind. I've been having these type receipts from Leclerc and Carrefour for a couple of years now. They are much easier to check and save a lot of time if you need to take anything back.

About 20 years ago we had talking tills at Hypercoop, they had to turn them off. 30 or so talking at once was too much!

I think many meetings are made for doodling. Sometimes it really helps to remember the meeting, and sometimes at the very least it hones your line drawing skills. A girl from my team at my last job was such a good doodler she eventually got a book of her doodles published...!

I didn't 'get' that one so much, but there was another one about memory which clicked with me straight away. Rob does incredible doodles when he's in meetings - mainly to help the time pass - they never make any progress in the meeting he goes too...
