I’m sparing many a thought for all those affected by the recent tragedies.
True freedom comes at a great price : that those who wish to abuse that freedom do just that. The police are likely to get more powers in the face of all the trouble. Liberal idealism is difficult to maintain, because the radical minority is beginning to permeate through the fabric of western society. To restrict the freedoms of these minorities means the restriction to the freedom of everyone else.
A new phase in the battle for freedom is just beginning, but let’s stop calling it a war.
